Having just gotten the call today to head back to Ossus this weekend, Jaina was trying not to jump the gun and be ready two days ahead of time. Again. Work for now was taken care of, doing any more training today would be a bad idea, packing this early was dumb...

So she had actually dragged herself out of her alcove and was curled up on the living room sofa, coffee in front of her, drawing out schematics for a gremlin launcher. She still thought it was a bad idea (even if it had originally been hers) but it was keeping her entertained for the moment. Maybe a little too entertained, she was getting way too into figuring this out.

For once Jaina had woken up a little late, and then it was an incoming call from her comlink that woke her. It was probably sad that she'd automatically reached for both it and her phone to take them outside so as not to disturb anyone, but considering it'd been kind of a long call, it was probably a good move on her part.

After she'd thumbed it off, she stayed sitting on the front steps, off to the side so she wouldn't be in anyone's way. And she'd just leaned her head against the side of the cabin, closing her eyes. Not sleeping, just honestly resting her eyes. For now, at least.

[So, so open. Bored and icky-feeling so I rely on you, game, to keep me entertained.]

It wasn't that Jaina was a slob or anything. It was just that Fandom had decided to go crazy the day before she'd decided to do laundry.

You don't want to know how long it took her to wrangle all the items into her duffel. You really, really don't. Especially since at one point Jaina had started looking at it as "And the Sword of the Jedi got defeated by a pair of workout pants."

At the moment, the clothes were in the bag, and the bag looked to be struggling. She kicked it once, just to show it who was boss, before picking it up and muttering something about finding someplace else for it to be so she could get some work done. Like maybe one of those convenient tubs.

[Establishy.]

The upside to always waking up this early against her will these days was that at least she had more time in the day to do stuff. Not wanting to wake her cabinmates by hanging out in the living room, Jaina climbed up onto the roof with her datapad and phone and found herself a spot to settle in and start checking messages from home.

The sun was just starting to come up, giving her just enough light to work with, for she was grateful. If she was being honest with herself, she was genuinely liking having so much to do. Besides it being a distraction from the two-years-ago trauma she couldn't seem to get away from, it gave her something to do here. Especially when she was beginning to wonder what the point was of being here. She didn't get to even talk to John much at all, she didn't see most of her friends anymore, she had one thing to do in town all week and wasn't sure how much longer she'd be here so there was no point in picking up more stuff... Work was a good distraction from those kinds of thoughts that she didn't really want to be having, especially when her gut still told her to stick around despite them.

And that wasn't to say that she couldn't be distracted from said work. Like now, she still took time to watch the sunrise. She couldn't help it, she liked them. She remembered watching one on the worldship above Myrkr and thinking that it was a new day, that they'd get out of the situation they were in, and that things would be okay. Anakin died that day, Jacen was captured, and she'd tipped over into dark, but for that moment, she'd had hope.

Jaina got her phone out and took a quick picture of it. She'd needed a wallpaper for it anyway. She just wasn't planning on telling anyone why she was using it.

Jaina wasn't actually supposed to leave until tomorrow, but um. It was Memorial Day. It wasn't her holiday, no, but it was one that always got to her. And now that she was- against all expectations- a survivor of a five-year war where she'd known a lot of people who'd died, it meant more. And then to think about Mitch, who had died in a war here, and about the not-boyfriend currently in the US military...

Let's just say given some of the issues she was having lately, she did not want to be in these cabins tonight.

So she packed for the trip home, which took maybe five minutes, most of which was spent on making sure she had her robes, and set out just a little earlier than planned. Like a day earlier.

[Mostly establishy, but feel free to catch her before she leaves if you want.
Also, sorry for spamming lately, except for how I'm kinda not. :)]

Jaina was actually trying to go to bed early for her, knowing she'd been pushing herself with work and training and wanting to be ready for her trip. She'd been worried that having the puppies around would interfere, but they'd go running with her and play by themselves whenever she had to train or make calls. It was almost too bad they couldn't stay forever, they were astral.

While 'going to bed' had been easy enough, 'going to sleep' had not. This was due mostly to a tiny golden retriever who couldn't seem to get comfortable. While Cappie was completely asleep at the foot of the bed (there was plenty of room, since Jaina's feet didn't reach the end of the mattress), Sparky kept getting up and walking to find somewhere better.

"Make up your mind," Jaina told him.

The puppy decided to take that as a hint, nudging her arm with his nose till she moved it, and then he promptly cuddled up to her side. And then nudged her hand, because he wanted to be pet to sleep.

Okay, it was no bunny snore, but that was pretty damn cute.

[NFI. The puppies are gone tomorrow, I had to do something with them.]

May was turning out to be Jaina's most bizarre month ever. After fun with baggage yesterday, today she woke up to something licking her face. To her surprise, she now had two small, adorable puppies bounding all over her bed, yipping cutely so she would wake up and play with them. After training it became clear that they weren't just students, or strays that had attached themselves to her. No, they were determined to stay with her at all times, never getting in her way, just being generally cute. And she had to admit, even though today was maybe only the second time she'd talked to Jag since the end of the war, there was something about the puppies trying to lick and nudge his little blue holographic form that had put a smile on her face, yes.

But that wasn't all. It seemed that no matter what the weather, even indoors, there was sunlight localized somewhere above Jaina, glinting off her hair and giving her a healthy glow. She had no idea what was going on, but at least it wasn't traumatic.

Currently she'd set the puppies, who she was calling Cappie and Sparky for the duration of however long they were stalking her, playing tug of war over an old boot, and sat in the living room of the cabin to watch with a sandwich and a soda. When she opened the soda, though, she was further surprised to see a rainbow sprout out of it.

Yeah, something was weird here.

[Um, so the spoilers that got Jaina grounded for four days? Were not only not that bad in context, but she deserves hugs. So as penance, just for the weekend, she is getting sunshine and puppies (who are just so very happy to see new friends) and every other nice thing I can think of.
Post is totally open, and yes, Jag needed puppies too but I can't send him one.]

Jaina had thought herself to be pretty oblivious to all around her while she looked over her datapad for research regarding next week's mission, but as it turns out, she was completely wrong on that. The first thud of something hitting the floor of her alcove had gotten her attention, and then by the time the rest of the things piled up, she was watching with an expression that was somewhere between surprise, anger, and general wtf.

There were pieces of luggage, of all shapes and sizes, gathered all around the foot of her bed and blocking the doorway to the alcove, more or less trapping her inside. And after spending four days in her room a couple weeks ago, she wasn't having that, so she got up to make herself a path. She could have just blasted them into the hallway with a Force push and wouldn't her cabinmates love her for that, but curiosity got the better of her and she decided to move them out of the way manually so she could see what was written on them.

So that's why Jaina was standing as close to the doorway of her alcove as she could get, lifting baggage and making comments, mostly offended, as she moved them out of her way. Among them was a suitcase marked MOMMY ISSUES ("I got over those!" Which was mostly true), another one with BOYFRIEND MARRIED ANOTHER WOMAN on it ("That, too!" Slightly less mostly true), a matching set of black bags, one labeled PTSD ("I do not!" Yes she did) and DEAD BROTHER ("Oh, low blow."), a large, heavy trunk marked SUCKY DESTINY ("Don't put it like that.") and a smaller, but still heavy matching trunk with MAY KILL BROTHER SOMEDAY, at which point Jaina stuck her hands on her hips and demanded of nothing in particular, "Do you have to announce it to the whole world?"

This might take a while.

[Totes open, with usual warning for SP at work, but dude I so need to play. *pats poor issueful girl*]

It was early when Jaina woke up from the nightmare, the kind of early where you don't need to look at the clock to know that you didn't need to get out of bed for hours yet. She didn't have the nightmares as often anymore, to the point where she could forget she had them at all most days, and she knew why she was having them again now. The anniversary was coming up again.

The cabins still gave Jaina a really uneasy feeling, which she'd been tired of last summer and now it was just annoying. She knew there was no reason to feel like she'd rather be grounded in her room, and she was just being an idiot about it.

Still, she couldn't make herself unpack. She never brought a lot with her, thanks to a lifelong habit of traveling light, so as far as she was concerned, once she dropped her bag on the floor, she was set. And then she sat on the little bed with her datapad, working on stuff for her next mission home.

Was it bad that she immediately went the distraction route? Uh huh. Would she admit it? Never ever.
