Jag had called while Jaina was in her office, and they'd talked for a good half hour before she realized that the call hadn't cut off for the first time since she'd been here. So they stayed on to take advantage of things working for once.

She even flat out told him that they were staying on as long as the connections held out, so in the rare case that she got visitors, they'd be dealing with an eavesdropper.

Jaina was having a horrible month- horrible summer, reall- and she needed some normalcy.

So there was a Jaina pony in her office, sitting at the desk. She was half-tempted to text Eric and apologize for probably making fun of him when he was a pony and she wasnt, but she wasn't about to give out ammunition.

[Open with SP!]

If you thought that Jaina wouldn't take a selfie with an Ewok to send to her mom, you were mistaken. Girl had to make her own fun here.

What was not fun, though, was trying to send the picture with severe connection issues between two galaxies. Mainly she was spending her office time cursing at her phone because she could not just try to do this later. Could not.

Jaina had gotten to talk to Jag for a surprisingly long time this morning, and then the connection cut off again and she couldn't get back through. It happened a lot, but that didn't make it suck any less.

So if you needed Jaina, she would be aggressively setting up her office, even though she barely had stuff. She had her ways.

It was the last day of the session, and since Jaina wasn't teaching the rest of the summer, she was cleaning out her office. And it felt really weird, considering she was pretty sure she wasn't coming back to her office or teaching.

Though she'd said stuff like that before and look where she was now, so she wasn't putting too much stock into it.

The door was open, and Jaina was going through her desk and anything else could be hiding, wondering how she accumulated this much stuff.

Jaina had brought Rowdy into the office today, since he needed some upgrades and she needed to not be in her apartment for a little while, but it wasn't going as planned. Mostly whenever she would start to do anything, Rowdy would wheel away to explore something, leaving Jaina sighing and/or rolling her eyes.

"I should have named you something else," she decided.

At some point in the middle of Jaina's weekly planning/taking care of things time, "Feliz Navidad" started playing from somewhere. In June. It'd taken a good five minutes of hinting for the source- Jaina didn't have a ton of patience- before she decided she was just over it.

So anyone passing by her office would find Jaina sitting in the hall outside her office with her datapad in front of her and the door closed. You'd even probably still hear the music.

Jaina was back in her office after not knowing the days of the week last week and ordering things for next week's class.

At least, that's what she was doing when some unknown number wasn't blowing up her phone. She kept letting it go to voicemail and then realized they were asking for another person, but when she picked up the next time they refused to believe she wasn't someone named Karen. So she hung up on them and they kept calling, and she was beginning to wonder if this was grounds for hunting these people down and beating them.

You know what, she was just going to put her phone in her desk for now.

The fact was, Jaina was disturbingly used to spending long stretches of time closed off somewhere with no food or showers while things tried to kill/hurt her. None of that was actually bothering her. She was bothered by things she'd seen in a couple rooms, but she was repressing that by being sort of vaguely worried about her grandfather without exactly knowing why.

But none of that was why there wasn't class today. It was just that once Jaina realized what day it was (why did it feel like Tuesday?), she'd already missed her shift at one job and it was too late to come up with something for today's class with how exhausted she was. Besides, she was sure a lot of people were still either hiding out or passed out. So she sent an email this morning telling her students that class was canceled, but that she'd be in her office if anyone needed her or wanted handwavy private flight shed time. What, shooting could be cathartic.

So she was in her office with coffee, going through messages from home. She could go weeks at a time without being able to contact her family, so they hadn't even noticed she was gone... at least not on their own. Jag had noticed, though, and he'd contacted her parents yesterday, and now she had worried messages from more than a few people. Hopefully 'There was a Fandom thing, I'll explain later' was an acceptable explanation for now...

Last night Jaina learned that she was really not okay with word-vomiting about how she'd assassinated her brother.

Today Jaina remembered why it'd been so long since she drank enough to have a hangover the next morning: because hangovers sucked and her head hurt and it hadn't really helped anything in the long run. Also, she wasn't getting any real work done. Also, she was feeling dumb about it because when you couldn't stop talking about certain things, alcohol was probably not going to help that in the first place.

She could actually try to lessen the hangover, but she kind of thought that it she was stupid enough to get it, she could deal with having it. At least until the extra-long training session after this that she would totally be using as a form of therapy.

On one hand, at least Jaina didn't have any deer trying to "secretly" watch her this week.

On the other hand, midway through getting things settled for class next week, she saw the squirrel walking in zigzags across her desk, wearing a tiny lampshade on its head. Apparently getting paid again this particular squirrel had decided to blow his entire paycheck all at once, which ended in him falling facefirst on Jaina's desk. And snoring.

She kind of missed the deer.

As usual, Jaina was in her office on Thursday.

Not so much like usual was the teal deer who kept poking its head in from the hall to see if she was doing anything worth noting.

Mostly what Jaina was doing was looking up to see if the deer was looking in instead of getting any actual work done, but she wasn't sure that was at all noteworthy.

As usual with vacations, Jaina had had to be talked into going on the trip next week. It helped that things were quiet enough at home for everyone to be doing their own thing, true. So today, since she didn't have a class to plan, she was doing her research online to find out some things about where they were going and how they were getting there.

And if she kept checking her comm as if waiting for a message that she was needed at home instead, well, old habits died really, really hard.

[Open, with SP!]

Jaina had opinions on Valentine's Day: it was awesome when you were with someone, depressing when you were single, and she didn't want to know what it was when you had a boyfriend but you were both in different galaxies. Did it matter that they didn't celebrate it back home? No. No it did not.

So while working on this week's class she called Jag to make sure he'd actually be around if she came to visit next week, and that went straight to his office, where she finally out-stubborned Ashik into telling her Jag was in his simulator and would be sure to call her when he got out.

Jaina ended the call, and the first words out of her mouth were, "...Of course he bought a simulator."

After getting to freak out all weekend over looking like Jacen, Jaina really, really didn't like all the dead people wandering around. She'd done this before, when Anakin had come back from the dead, but that had been good. She'd been able to talk to him and let her family say goodbye and it'd helped.

She had no such hopes for Jacen, if he was out there.

And she didn't think he was, exactly. The automatic assumption was that he was, but she knew that was because she was already freaked out and sad from before. She'd hardly been able to sense him in life at the end there, but not seeing or hearing from him yet meant she was probably in the clear. Because after having one traumatic weekend that led to having to replace a mirror, she really didn't think her head or her heart could take more right now. So it was to the office to work on class and keep herself busy, because dealing with things was for other people.

There were no gremlins today. Jaina had checked her office thoroughly as soon as she got in, and with the coast clear, she sat down to work at her desk.

The thing was, when you knew there was a possibility of gremlins due to experience, a check of the place didn't mean you weren't slightly paranoid that any little noise might not be the sign of something you had to kick a lot without it biting you. So, you know, it was going to be that kind of day.

[Open office hours!]
solo_sword: (oh come on)
It was Jaina's first day back in her office since before the break, and she was figuring she'd just get some research done for class and that'd be that. Instead when she came in, it was just in time to see a little green thing scurry into a grate, and then she looked around to see that the office had been ransacked. By gremlins. And she didn't even keep anything they might want in here.

Jaina sighed, resigned herself to cleaning up, and then working on class. And maybe a gremlin would show itself so she could punt it into the hall of something.

[Open office!]
solo_sword: (wtf.)
Jaina was planning on still being here next semester, but since she'd be gone for a lot of the break, she came into the office to make sure everything was in order before she came back.

This would be a lot easier if little trees didn't pop up every time she looked at a spot. After a while of getting annoyed at trying to figure out what to do about it, she found herself trying to test whether or not the trees really were popping up specifically where she looked. Honestly, it was a little disappointing to figure out that she didn't have that sort of power.

Anyone who wandered by Jaina's office today would find her in there, just like normal.

It's just that they would find her wearing a dress and high heels, with a single classy strand of pearls around her neck, vacuuming her office. And humming to herself as she did it.

As you do.

[Door and post open, and if there was ever a reason for a character to come to life and murder me, this is both the post and the character to do it.]
solo_sword: (teen- doing okay)
Apparently, Jaina had an office.

When you were sixteen, you didn't think much of things like having offices. Even if you were really focused on the future, you probably thought more of what job you would have rather than what kind of office you ended up in, which was especially true if you were a pilot who spent most of her job in a cockpit. So knowing she had one was even a little bit weirder than actually teaching. It was like she was a grownup here.

That thought was the one that kept Jaina from spinning in her chair even once, because she'd so have done it otherwise. Instead she was going through desk drawers and looking through things, because she was curious and had nothing better to do.
