If there was one thing Jaina had to show John before the trip was over, it was the Falcon. Besides, giving him the tour meant actually getting some time to themselves on a base full of people.

Not worrying at all if her inner geek showed through while describing all the systems and the modifications that she knew of (and let's face it, the odds were there were some she wasn't aware of), she led him to the cockpit, where she slid easily into the pilot's seat, just because she could. "Have I bored you yet?" she asked.

[For the boy. NFB for distance.]

"Thanks. Maybe Mom will get tired of it and knock their heads together." Considering Leia was Jaina's size and the boys were... not, that would be interesting. "How'd things go with my dad?"

"We got a lot done," John said slowly. "I can only hope I answered his questions in ways that he liked."

"Do I want to know?" she asked, trying not to wince just in case.

"You might be interested in his responses to some of my questions," John teased.

"Such as?" And though she trusted him to handle himself, she was still wondering if she should worry.

"I'm kidding, Jaina," John shook his head. "I didn't really have the time to do my own asking. Well, not with your dad."

Okay, relieved now. But it did make her curious. "What would you have asked if you'd had the time?" she wondered.

That was a good question that he wasn't prepared to answer just then. "Well, that's sort of a moot point, isn't it? Though I am still curious about the Wookiees."

She recognized his subject changes, and if it was anyone but him she wouldn't have let it slide. She wouldn't press, just be a little suspicious. "What about them?" she asked, going with it.

John couldn't suppress the grin or the playful gleam in his eyes. "I thought you didn't want to know about that."

"Oh that's mean," she said immediately. "And while you're overthinking and traumatizing me, just remember that one sat in that chair for many many years, by the way."

John took a good look at the chair from his sitting vantage point. It seemed sturdy. "Huh. No, I won't say anything about the potential a chair like this could have." He really was just trying to mess with her.

"Yhis is my payback for asking questions, huh?" she asked.

"And, you know, a nice attempt at normalcy," he replied.

"That exists here?" To be fair, it was entirely normal for her.

"Hey, I'm surrounded by aliens on a planet in a distant galaxy. This is close enough for me." Of course, that was his perspective.

"You're forgetting how pretty much everyone here has powers, too," she said helpfully.

"Right. Thanks," he sighed. Not that he needed more reason to work on obtaining any skills he could.

"That's not a bad thing," Jaina assured him. "This is about the only time I'm in the majority there. And you'll notice my dad is fine with it."

"He did seem well-adjusted, considering," John agreed. "And it's not like flying requires powers."

It helped, but she wasn't going to say that. "I wish I could introduce you to some of the pilots," she said. "When I first joined up with the Rogues I was helping them mark potential candidates, and Wedge and Gavin's picks matched mine, and I was using the Force. They're just that good at what they do now."

"You can use the Force to tell you if someone is a good pilot?"

"You can get a good read on people. See how they react to certain things, whether they're stable or will crack under pressure, that sort of thing," she replied. "And Rogue Squadron's elite, we see the bigger battles, and more frequently, so we have to know their head's in the game. There's more to it than just flying ability."

"This only work when they're flying or are people like a book?" He obviously still knew so little about her abilities. It kind of bothered him.

"Depends on the person," Jaina said honestly. "Some people are naturally very closed off, or have learned how to be, and it's harder to get a read on them. Normally I can tell when someone's lying, so I know whether or not they're trustworthy. But you put someone in a battle situation, even simulated, and defenses start coming down. It makes it easier to read them."
