In town, Saturday morning

Last night had definitely been nice, as had this morning, which was why Jaina wasn't in a rush to get on with her day. Especially if she was leaving on Tuesday, she might as well enjoy it while she could. On the way to the Perk, she asked John, "Think the caffeine's back yet?"

Jaryd didn't know why they were all confused, but he was too now. "We always call him Daddy," he said. "Don't tease, it's mean."

John stared at the little boy. Then he stared at Jaina. "I don't know."

"Mom, what's wrong with daddy?" Jordin asked, concerned for her father's staring and confusion.

Somehow Jaina hadn't expected that word to be used in reference to her for a very very long time. "I hate this town," she muttered.

Jaryd turned to his sister and whispered, "Maybe we drove them crazy," even if he didn't really get how to whisper yet.

John squatted down in front of the kids, "We're not crazy, just surprised."

"Why?" Jaryd asked. Especially since Grandpa Han called Daddy crazy a lot. And then he got frowned at by Mom.

John glanced at Jaina and shrugged. "Well, uh, mommy and daddy weren't exactly expecting to see you here."

"Why?" he asked again. He might have been able to go on like that for a while.

John still hadn't had any caffeine in six days, so it was no surprise that he looked over at Jaina with a whine. "A little help here?"

"Um." Jaina bit her lip, and asked, "Do you two know about how weird Fandom can be?" Please let them know, please let them know...

"You mean like how it made daddy into a cookie for Grandpa Anakin's birthday?" Jordin asked, having always paid attentions to the stories Grandpa Anakin told.

Now would be a bad time to laugh, right? With a glance at John, she said, "Like that. Well, we haven't... had you... yet." That was so wrong to say, and at he moment Jaina was wondering how much birth control would be too much.

"What your mom said," John frowned a little at her, only guessing where they could've heard that story. And what did she mean by yet?

"Ohhhhh," said Jaryd, with great understanding. "We didn't hear this story yet."

"Something tells me you won't," John replied. It was a very Return from the Past moment.

Jaina cut Jaryd off from another "Why?" by asking a question that kind of made her feel bad to have to ask. "What are your names?"

Considering herself more helpful than her brother, Jordin replied. "I'm Jordin and that's my little brother Jaryd."

"I'm noticing a theme," Jaina said with another glance at John, wondering if they hadn't been his idea. Alternate universe his idea. Whatever.

Those were not John's idea of good names, but Jaina was from another galaxy, maybe they were popular there.

"So, how old are you two?" John asked, wondering how old he was to them.

"Five," Jaryd answered, and then held up five fingers a second later, like he'd forgotten that part. He knew how old five was, but for some reason people always wanted to see how old.

"But I'm an hour older!" Jordin added, because she would never let anyone forget it. Especially Jaryd.

"Of course you're twins," Jaina sighed. And of course they'd be an hour apart, because it being quick and easy was too much to ask. "I really should have guessed."

"It's like Anakin knew," John muttered, thinking of the droid babies and wondering how much these two had kept other him up at night.

"Grandpa Han says it's a curse," said Jaryd. He didn't say it meanly, but he seemed kind of convinced of it.
