Ossus- Thursday Fandom time

Christmas 2008 had been spent aboard Ralroost, waiting as John healed up from being impaled during a mission. Since then there'd been a couple more Christmases, to the point that Jaina had absolutely no problem taking some time to go home. The new Jedi Academy was barely at the beginning stages of being built, she had potential mission stuff to talk over with Luke, and she hadn't gotten to spend hardly any time at all with tiny Ben before coming back to Fandom last time. Holidays were supposed to be about family, and she was all about that this year.

And getting to bring John with her was an unexpected bonus. Her family had to be wtfing at her when she left a room, but that was fine. She knew it was confusing. There was happiness going on here, that's what counted.

After spending some time with everyone, Jaina led John back to the room (Han, being the type of dad he was, had insisted on them having two separate rooms, and Jaina had said fine and then completely disregarded this), asking, "Is it weird to be back here?"

[NFB for distance, SP is a yay, and for that guy she showed up with.]

"Well, there's no time like the present to try something. Maybe I'll even be discouraged to embarrass you in front of friends." And mainly he was curious what she would do.

"I admit I'm interested," John said. "But the looking forward part is dependent on what it is, exactly."

He smiled and tilted his head to one side, completely waiting.

She was teasing him terribly without doing anything. "Which would be..."

"Was there something shiny way down there where I'd never see?" John teased, reminding her of the topic at hand.

"I thought you liked shiny presents," he answered, frowning a little despite the kissing. "I might need to exchange something in that case."

"Maybe we should work out some sort of exchange between us," he suggested, slow smile spreading replacing the frown. "I mean, to save me the trip to the store."

"So I get a reprieve on my negative reinforcement?" John verified, not worried because he knew these things would work themselves out eventually.

"Hold that thought," he told her, relinquishing his hold and leaning far over the side of the bed in search of a small box tucked in a sock in his duffel bag.

John shook the wrapped box from the sock and sat up again, placing the gift on the bed in front of him. "Ready?"

It was exciting, receiving a present and giving one when it wasn't even close to Christmas in his timeline. "I have no problem going first," he told her, taking his present and tearing into the paper with enthusiasm. "Oh, this is great!" John was immediately getting the watch out and putting it on and deciding it was far better than the one he wore for work purposes. "Thanks, Jaina."

He'd debated the purchase of any sort of ring, but that one had called out to him somehow. "Good. Because I don't think it'd look quite the same on me," he teased, trying to keep things nice and light.
