Ossus- Thursday Fandom time

Christmas 2008 had been spent aboard Ralroost, waiting as John healed up from being impaled during a mission. Since then there'd been a couple more Christmases, to the point that Jaina had absolutely no problem taking some time to go home. The new Jedi Academy was barely at the beginning stages of being built, she had potential mission stuff to talk over with Luke, and she hadn't gotten to spend hardly any time at all with tiny Ben before coming back to Fandom last time. Holidays were supposed to be about family, and she was all about that this year.

And getting to bring John with her was an unexpected bonus. Her family had to be wtfing at her when she left a room, but that was fine. She knew it was confusing. There was happiness going on here, that's what counted.

After spending some time with everyone, Jaina led John back to the room (Han, being the type of dad he was, had insisted on them having two separate rooms, and Jaina had said fine and then completely disregarded this), asking, "Is it weird to be back here?"

[NFB for distance, SP is a yay, and for that guy she showed up with.]

"Sort of," he agreed with a little nod.

He closed his eyes, enjoying the kiss as long as it lasted and finally smiling at her. "You seem happy." Maybe he was just seeing his own feelings mirrored in her.

"Weird as it might be, I am," he said and then froze for a moment before craning his neck around, as if checking the room.

John turned back to face her with a half-smile. "Just waiting for something bad to happen."

"See, you say that and I'm half expecting a knock on the door," he told her. This didn't stop him from wrapping his arms around her.

"Do you, now?" John asked, smirking a little because he totally won at being the one there. Yes, it was a competition in his mind.

That was not actually even close to what he expected to hear. "I've been told I'm not too terrible to look at in pictures." Okay, so maybe she'd scared him a little with serious talk. It was that bad thing he'd been waiting for.

"No," he said quickly, leaning in to try distracting her with a kiss. He was just aware that he could never really be the guy to complete anyone's picture. Especially hers, knowing what he did.

"Nothing wrong," he replied easily, "just unexpected."

"Uh, not so much." He wasn't looking for her to repeat it, nor did he expect any sort of explanation, it was simple fact.

"It's not exactly anything I'd ever expected to hear," he shrugged, not thinking it was anything that required apology.

Before was a long time ago, and it had been packed with bunches of different issues altogether. "Now," he agreed, "and that's what matters, right?" Living in the now was key.
