Specifically, Jaina was going to see whether Mara was up for sparring. She'd beaten Lowie last time, which meant she was maybe possibly slightly planning on showing off a tiny bit before getting her ass kicked by a Master. With some free time on her hands, she headed down to her aunt and uncle's quarters, knocking on the door.

"I'd get no protection from my girlfriend? Maybe I need to revisit that..."

"I'll remind you that you did do it to me," Jaina pointed out.

"I remember," John said, having meant the girlfriend part. "Still up for saving my arm from complete loss of feeling?"

Yeah, she knew what he meant. Point stood. "Sure," she said, standing. "I can do something nice today."

"You can?" He was glad he was still holding Ben so she couldn't hit him.

She threw him a glare she didn't mean, leaning down to take Ben from him. "See, I followed through and everything."

After handing off the kid, John stretched his arms over his head, hoping to get back some feeling in the one. "Thank you for that."

"Anytime," she said, getting Ben settled comfortably enough for both of them. "You know you could have maybe put him down, too."

"I tried that," John told her. "He wasn't a fan. Though maybe now he wouldn't notice."

"I can take him for a little bit," Jaina said. "I'm getting used to this enough that I might not even notice when my arms fall asleep."

"If it's too much I'll take him back," John said, and then realizing that sounded too taken with the kid, altered his response. "Wouldn't want him distracting you from your schedule."

"I have no schedule," she assured him. "Don't tell me you want him back already." Though if he did, cutest thing ever.

It wasn't that he wanted him back...okay maybe it was.

"Well, Mara did as me to take care of him. I wouldn't want to disappoint her."

Jaina smiled broadly. "You do."

"No, I'm just thinking of my job here," John said defensively.

"Aunt Mara wouldn't have a problem with you passing him over for a bit," she assured him, still smiling. "And it's okay if you're a little attached."

"Right, well, you are his cousin," John said, still not wanting to admit his attachment.

"It's normal with kids, I think. Especially before they start talking and you're not the one staying up all night with them," Jaina said.

"Well, as soon as he can sing Dance, Dance Little Ewok for himself, the kid's on his own," John said, still trying not to give in despite her obvious knowledge of his attachment.

"Yeah, right," she said, but looked up at him questioningly. "Did you sing it for him and I missed it?"

John looked away and scratched his head. "...No?"

She decided to let up on him a little, even if it just meant she toned the smile down some. "It's good that you're good with him."

"It's good that I'm useful," John corrected, not wanting to be a waste of space there.

"You are," Jaina said immediately, because she still appreciated him coming along and helping. "I think my grandfather might have even been slightly impressed to hear that you do this."

"Which part of 'this'?" John asked, wondering if he wanted to know the answer. Anakin wasn't exactly known for saying positive things about him.
